FAQs
*50% deposit due at time of reservation (non-refundable)

*$3.00 per mile/ for special arrangement drop offs, pickups, transfers (CANNOT DELIVER TO FOREST SERVICE TRAILHEADS)


*Balance of rental due 7 days prior to departure date

*Any alterations to time frame, number of llamas, trailer rental, cancellations must be discussed with Happy Homestead Llamas 14 days in advance

*First time renters must take orientation class anytime before your adventure. This is a one time class all new renters must take regardless of llama experience. Online or In person (please inquire for a schedule and time to take orientation)

*Upgraded Trailer  ( 4-6 Llamas ) - Can be hauled by a 1/2 ton truck (etc. Chevy 1500) 2" ball,  7-pin connector

*Light 
Weight Trailer (2 Llamas) - Can be hauled by SUV, light duty truck, 2" ball, 7-pin connector

​*Two orientation options include private in person or online through Wilderness Ridge Trail Llamas 

*Orientation is a MUST if first time renting llamas from Happy Homestead Llamas regardless of llama experience

If someone other than yourself is taking the orientation course that person will also need to sign the rental lease agreement and will be solely responsible for the safety of the llamas and return all rental gear in good working condition 

*The orientation includes all the necessary components you'll need for a successful pack trip including: catching your llamas, haltering, leading, saddling, weighing panniers, donning panniers onto the saddle, staking llamas out, trailer loading/unloading, feed requirements, water requirements, trail etiquette and much more. We have two options to choose from.  Can be taken day of rental but please plan accordingly.  **We highly recommend scheduling in advance

*Recommended Wilderness Areas: Trinity-Alps Wilderness, Marble Mountain Wilderness, Emigrant Wilderness

*Happy Homestead Llamas is located 40 minutes northeast of Chico, 
California 

*Most drive times from the homestead to the trailheads average 3-6 hours
